VHF/UHF Century Club Award Rules


1. The VHF/UHF Century Club (VUCC) is awarded for contact with a minimum number of Maidenhead 2 degrees by 1 degree grid locators per band as indicated below. Grid locators are designated by a combination of two letters and two numbers. More information on grid locators can be found in January 1983 QST, pp 49-51 (reprint available upon request. (a) The VUCC certificate and endorsements are available to amateurs worldwide; however, ARRL membership is required for hams in the US, its possessions and Puerto Rico.

(b) The minimum number of grid locators needed to initially qualify for each individual band award is as follows:
for 50 MHz, 144 MHz and Satellite - 100 Credits;
for 222 MHz and 432 MHz - 50 Credits;
for 902 MHz and 1296 MHz - 25 Credits;
for 2.3 GHz - 10 Credits;
for 3.4 GHz, 5.7 GHz, 10 GHz, - 5 Credits
24 GHz, 47 GHz, 75 GHz, 119 GHz, 142 GHz, 241 GHz and Laser 300 GHz and above

Awards for 222 MHz and 432 MHz are designated as HALF Century.
Awards for 902 MHz and 1296 MHz are designated as QUARTER Century.
Awards above these are SHF.


2. Only those contacts dated January 1, 1983 or later are creditable for VUCC purposes.


3. Individual band awards are endorseable in the following increments:

(a) 50 MHz, 144 MHz and Satellite 25 Credits
(b) 222 and 432 MHz 10 Credits
(c) 902 and above 5 Credits


4. General Rules

(a) Separate bands are considered as separate awards.

(b) No crossband contacts are permitted, except for Satellite.

(c) No contacts through active repeaters are permitted, except for Satellite Awards.

(d) Contacts with aeronautical mobiles (in the air) do NOT count.

(e) Stations who claim to operate from more than one grid locator simultaneously (i.e., from the boundary between two grid locators or from the intersection of four grid locators) must be physically present in all locators to give multiple locator credit with a single contact. These stations should be prepared to validate their claim. For a mobile station, this means parking the vehicle exactly on the line or corner. For a portable station, this means that the total area occupied by the station's physical setup, including operating position(s), power source(s), and antenna(s), must occupy some portion of each of the two/four grid squares simultaneously. Operators of boundary/corner stations should be prepared to provide evidence of meeting the simultaneous occupation test if called upon to do so. Two photographs -- one showing the placement of the GPS receiver in the station setup, and a close-up legibly showing the GPS reading - are typically needed as evidence of compliance. Video footage showing an overview of the operating site and then, uncut and in real time, zooming in on the GPS display coordinates is even better.

(f) Grid boundary lines and grid corners must be established using a GPS receiver whose map datum is set to WGS84, the global default for current GPS receivers. The GPS receiver should be set to use WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) if so equipped, since this improves the error figure to as little as 5 feet. In no case may the GPS receiver show an error figure in excess of 20 feet. Any modern GPS receiver equipped with WAAS will easily meet this requirement, as will most older units without WAAS.


5. There are no specialty endorsements such as "CW only," etc.


6. For VUCC awards on 50 through 1296 MHz and Satellite, all contacts must be made from locations no more than 200km apart. For SHF awards, contacts must be made from a single location, defined as within a 300meter diameter circle.


7. Application Procedure (please follow carefully)

(a) Confirmations (QSLs) and application forms (MSD-259 and MSD-260) must be submitted to an approved VHF Awards Manager for certification. ARRL Special Services Clubs appoint VHF Awards Managers whose names are on file at HQ. If you do not know of an awards manager in your area, HQ will give you the name of the closest manager. (Also located on the Web at: http://www.arrl.org/awards/vucc.) Foreign VUCC applications should be checked by the Awards Manager for their IARU Member Society in their respective country. Do not send cards to HQ, unless asked to do so.

(b) For the convenience of the Awards Manager in checking cards, applicants may indicate in pencil (pencil ONLY) the grid locator on the address side of the cards that DO NOT clearly indicate the grid locator. The applicant affirms that he/she has accurately determined the proper location from the address information given on the card by signing the affirmation statement on the application.

(c) Cards must be sorted:
(1) Alphabetically by field
(2) Numerically from 00 to 99 within that field

(d) Where it is necessary to mail cards for certification, sufficient postage for proper return of all cards and paperwork, in addition to appropriate fees as noted in #8, must be included along with a separate self-addressed mailing label. An SASE is not necessary when a certificate will be issued, since a special mailing tube is used. ARRL accepts no responsibility for cards handled by mail to and from VHF Awards Managers and will not honor any claims.

(e) Enclosed with the initial VUCC certificate from HQ will be a computer printout of the original list of grid locators for which the applicant has received credit (MSD-259). When applying for endorsements, the applicant will indicate in RED on the right hand side of the page those new grid locators for which credit is sought, and submit cards for certification to an Awards Manager. A new updated computer printout will be returned with appropriate endorsement sticker(s). Thus, a current list of grid locators worked is always in the hands of the VUCC award holder, available to the VHF Awards Manager during certification, and a permanent historical record always maintained at HQ. Use of the old MSD-259 field sheet is still OK, but only computer printouts will be sent in the return.


8. FEES

(a) All VUCC applicants will be charged an initiation fee of $10.00. This fee includes one VUCC certificate.

(b) Each additional VUCC certificate, whether new or replacement, is $10.00.

(c) For endorsements, enclose $10.00 for each application.

(d) Lapel pins for VUCC awards are available for $7.00 each.


9. Disqualification

(a) Altered/forged confirmations or fraudulent applications submitted may result in disqualification of the applicant from VUCC participation by action of the ARRL Awards Committee.

(b) The applicant affirms he/she has abided by all the rules of membership in the VUCC program and agrees to be bound by the decisions of the ARRL Awards Committee.


10. Decisions of the ARRL Awards Committee regarding interpretation of the rules here printed or later amended shall be final.


11. Operating Ethics: Fair play and good sportsmanship in operating are required of all VUCC members.

7. 申請方法（必ずお守りください）

(a) 確認書（QSL）及び申請書（MSD-259及びMSD-260）を申請を担当するVHFアワードマネージャーに提出し、認証を受けなければなりません。ARRLスペシャルサービスクラブはVHFアワードマネージャーを任命しており、その名前は本部にあるファイルに掲載されています。あなたの地域にアワードマネージャーがいない場合は、本部が最も近いマネージャーの名前を教えてくれます。外国人のVUCC申請は、それぞれの国のIARU加盟協会のアワードマネージャーが確認してください。依頼されない限り、本部にカードを送らないでください。

(d) 申請のためにQSLカードを郵送する必要がある場合には、第8章に記載されている料金に加えて、すべてのQSLカードおよび書類を適切に返送するための十分な郵便料金を、別途、返信用の郵送ラベルとともに添付しなければなりません。アワードが発行される場合は、特別な郵送用の筒が使用されるため、SASEは必要ありません。ARRLは、VHFアワードマネージャーとの間での郵送で処理されたQSLカードについて責任を負わず、いかなるクレームにも対応しません。

(e) 本部から最初に発行されるVUCCアワードには、申請者がクレジットを取得したグリッドロケータのリスト（MSD-259）の原本をコンピュータで印刷したものが同封されます。追加申請を行う場合、申請者は新たにクレジットを取得するグリッドロケータをページの右側に赤で記入し、確認用QSLカードをアワードマネージャーに提出してください。更新されたコンピュータ印字のリストが、エンドースメントのシールとともに返却されます。このようにして、作業したグリッドロケータの最新リストは、常にVUCCアワードホルダーの手元にあり、追加申請の際にはVHFアワードマネージャーが利用でき、本部には恒久的な履歴が常に維持されます。旧式のMSD-259フィールドシートを使用しても構いませんが、返却の際にはコンピュータで印刷したもののみをお送りします。


8. 料金

(a) すべてのVUCC申請者には、10ドルの新規申請料が課せられます。この料金にはVUCC証明書1枚が含まれます。

(b) VUCCアワードを1枚追加するごとに、新規または交換にかかわらず、10ドルとします。

(c) 追加申請（エンドーズメント）の場合は、申請書1枚につき10ドルを同封してください。

9.失格

(a) 偽装された申請書や不正な申請書が提出された場合、ARRLアワード委員会の決定により、申請者はVUCCへの参加資格を失います。

(b) 申請者は、VUCCプログラムのメンバーシップに関するすべての規則を遵守し、ARRLアワード委員会の決定に拘束されることに同意することとします。


10. ここに掲載されている規則や後に改正された規則の解釈に関するARRLアワード委員会の決定は最終的なものとなります。


11. 運用倫理：　運用におけるフェアプレーとグッドスポーツマンシップは、すべてのVUCCメンバーに求められます。
